Many parents are showing this video to their teens to drive home the point that texting while driving can be deadly. Here are a few ways that we can make the roads a safier place:
Continue your Teen's Driving Education - Many parents feel that driver education through their high schools may not be enough for their teen. Driving Schools that focus behind driver's education could be a route to make your teenager aware of what their car can and cannot do in an accident situation and it can help them realize the consequences of unsafe driving. We try to focus on these items in our B.R.A.K.E.S. Teen Pro-Active Driving School.
Get Behind the Cause - There are individuals and groups that are fighting to curb texting while driving. For Example: four Senators and one of them being Kay Hagan from North Carolina, recently unveiled the ALERT Drivers Act proposal; a bill for a nationwide ban on texting while driving for car and truck drivers and operators of mass transit. This is just one example of people that are taking a stand and trying to make our roads a safer place. Support these groups and learn how you can spread the message of safe driving.
Please let us know what you think about texting while driving and if you have a method that you taught your teen about the dangers of not paying attention while driving, we would love to hear your stories.
